Praise God, The Mighty Creator

Psalm 104

Today was about praising God! Yes, Lord!

Indeed, Lord, how great you are! Dressed in a robe with honor and majesty and filled with your light! The curtains of your home are the starry night; rafters of your home are the clouds. Wow, you ride in a chariot of clouds with the wings of the wind…Yes, Lord

Fabulous reminders of your power and might are everywhere around us every day! I absolutely loved the verses about you make the springs pour water, the streams gush down the mountain, the birds nest and sing, you cause the grass to grow, ….Yes, You do everything to provide for us!

Lord, it is my prayer that I will never allow others things to take the joy of You away from me. I love the fascination with all the things You do. The things You created always grab my attention.

It is just the way you designed time. The moon, the sun and time of day with all the animals hunting for food and eating… Wow, every detail. Details, Details, Details, and never did you miss even one! Yes, Lord indeed you made it all with Your Mighty Wisdom.

Lord, you wear the clothes of creator every day. Some days, it is like the clothes that our best friend might wear; we notice the outfit and not the friend! Please Lord forgive me for the days that I don't look to You! We see your creation all around us every day and it is my prayer that we never see it without saying a word of thanks to You!

Thanks be to God!

Happy in Time Out?

Psalm 94: 12

Joyful are those you discipline, LORD, those you teach with your instructions.

Today, reading this Psalm I thought of time-out given to children and parents knowing what is needed. The little boy doesn't look very joyful, does he? He looks dejected, sad, alone…

I thought looking at the picture that is exactly the way we feel when we feel we have failed God. Unless, we remember that the reason we are disciplined is out of love. I believe that God gives us this understanding and reason to be able to grasp this knowledge. We know deep within it is His mighty love and through Him and this understanding that we are able to be joyful that He disciplines us. Do you agree?

Otherwise, how would one be joyful? The original word translated to mean happy, blessed. We are blessed because God admonishes, instructs, corrects (original words). Perhaps, we are joyful in the instruction because we realize that the Lord sees us. After all, when we are in trouble aren't we looking for attention from someone? The Lord sees so He admonishes and for this we are definitely "blessed"!

Hope found in the LORD!

Psalm 33

Please read this Psalm today! We are reminded of God's power, might, and love, to which we should be shouting praises of joy and thanksgiving! It was wonderful to think of the imagery in my small brain.

The LORD merely spoke, and the heavens were created. He breathed the word, and all the stars were born. He assigned the sea its boundaries and locked the oceans in vast reservoirs.

We should be in awe! When we are allowed to gaze upon the stars at night, we should give thanks and honor to God! It truly is amazing!

The Psalm goes on to remind us that God looks down from heaven, sees us, he observes and remembers making our hearts and He understands what we do. Wow, this got my attention. We know this, but do we remember it. All day? All the time? What about the time we are short in the grocery store line, or we cut somebody off driving to work? Or the time we are just ugly, because we woke up that way?

I love this reminder in verse 20 ~ we put our hope in the LORD. He is our help and our shield. In him our hearts rejoice for we trust in his holy name. Let your unfailing love surround us, LORD, for our hope is in you alone.

Yes, indeed our hope is in YOU alone LORD. We have You, so we have hope. The times when things look bad, we may read Your Word and be reminded of who truly is in charge. Who truly is taking care of us and who is going to protect us. Thank you Lord for your grace, love, creation, and for hope! Our Father is truly in authority. Praise the LORD!

We must!

Psalm 85:10

Unfailing love and truth have met together. Righteousness and peace have kissed!

How would unfailing love or mercy meet with truth? How would righteousness and peace kiss?

Jesus Christ!

Reading the whole Psalm gives you the story of the writer returning from captivity in Babylon. He wants restoration for their sins to be blotted out, things to return to the way they were. Worship in the temple and all suffering to be done away with after all, haven't we suffered enough? Are you going to stay angry through generations?

It seems the writer received a revelation about Jesus. In verse 9, it talks of the land being filled with glory. Only Jesus was able to reconcile this world. The LORD poured out blessings and His blood. When you look at the last verse it speaks of righteousness heralding before him, preparing the way for his steps, which again is only Jesus!

I often wonder do we get it? Do we truly wrap our little brains around what Jesus did for each of us? I know it is much easier to talk of the stories of Jesus healing, Jesus walking with the disciples, Jesus visiting and teaching, but sometimes we like to skip right past the cross to the morning after. We simply must look at the cross. We must realize that it was Christ's blood saved us. I know it's not a pretty picture, but it is the truth. Jesus saved us from the grave. (This was another verse I loved today from Psalm 49) So, I think I will close with that verse as a wonderful reminder about what Jesus did for each of us…

But as for me, God will redeem my life. He will snatch me from the power of the grave. Thank you Lord, for all you have done for all of us. You indeed will snatch us from our graves because of Jesus. I am unworthy, but forgiven. I give thanks to God for all that you are, all that you were, and all that you will be! Thank you for the grace that I don't deserve. Amen

Forgiven,

Debbie
