Healing please

Acts 3: 1 -11

Wow!

I just love Peter…don't you? Hopefully, we all see a little bit of ourselves in Peter and he gives us hope! Who doesn't need a little hope?

The reading today was beautiful because God spoke to me…once again. I love the times when I so desperately need a word from God and He gives me one…

I want all of you to read the whole story from Acts 3 about the crippled beggar at the Temple. The focus for me was …verse 2

Each day he was put beside the Temple gate, the one called the Beautiful Gate, so he could beg from the people going into the Temple.

Think of a time in your life when you allowed others or yourself to put you in a situation that wasn't good. You allowed something someone said or did to make you do things that were just as wrong as the action they took against you…Did you allow them to put you beside the gate? Did you beg for others to support you or did you beg for others to hear your side of the story?

I did.

The Word goes on to say…Look at us! The original word means perceive for yourself, discern things for yourself. Look deep into the situation and give it to God for true understanding.

I did.

Get up and walk! Again, original words mean cause to be born or aroused..Look at things a little differently. Walk was "peripateo" to make one's way...to conduct oneself. Change the place you have been put or where you put yourself.

I did.

Instantly healed and strengthened.

Made solid is the meaning. God will make us solid, if we allow Him to work in our situations and we take it to Him. He will help us perceive things truthfully and He will make us solid!

I am trying!

You're right. And sometimes our perception of what someone "does to or says about us" is just that--a perception. We spend so much time worrying about things that are so trivial and turning molehills into mountains. We paralyze ourselves in our "walk" when we do that.

Debbie, your honesty and self-examination shows you have a teachable spirit. It shows that you are seeking God to lead you and correct you when needed. Your correction doesn't necessarily mean you perceived wrong. God is more interested in your reaction. When we have been hurt we are an easy target to the enemy's attacks.

I find myself cheering for Peter in Acts. He is not hiding or denying Christ. He is speaking in the Temple to crowds, he is healing the sick and he is boldly answering the religious leaders questioning. Peter, the rock!

Looking for healing and strengthening myself!

What is interesting to me is that the crippled beggar's "friends" probably thought they were "right" or doing a "good thing" by taking him to the gate every day to beg, instead of helping him find his true purpose and healing. But praise God he sent Peter to help him find his way. God still guides us through his word and through other people and He is still in the healing busines today.
