Snuffed out

2 Samuel 21:17

"You are not going out to battle with us again! Why risk snuffing out the light of Israel?"

Why do we go to battle?

Why do we take steps that put us at risk of our light being snuffed out?

We step into a battle and we don't carry all the armor that we need to fight the battle and we are at risk!

We step into the battle and we forget to let the Leader of the army tell us to step into the battle to begin the battle!

We forget to talk to the one that will fight the battle, so …our light goes out!

It saddened me so much to read about David in the battle. He was weak and exhausted. Imagine it..all the things he had faced! He had to be battle weary.

I know there are some days I think I can't put one foot in front of the other and rather than step back and rest and be refreshed – I step into battle and might light gets snuffed out. The devil knows when we are tired and exhausted and he uses it to his best advantage…We aren't doing Our Savior any good when we proceed in this manner. We let the Light that He gives us be put in danger!

Thank you Lord for this Mighty Word this morning!

Sweet Blessings,

Debbie

Debbie. Your words are so true. I am intrigued by the question, "why do we take steps that put us at risk of our light being snuffed out?" Often we go into battle without being prepared or we go into battle under out own power which usually ends up in a disaster occurring. Ephesians 6:10-17 tells us what we must do to be prepared to go into battle. First of all we must draw on the strength of the Lord and from his power. Then He tells us to put on his armor so that we might be prepared to stand firm against the tactics of the devil. For our struggle is not with the flesh and blood but with the darkness and its evil spirits. Stand fast with your loins girded in truth (God), clothed with righteousness (right minded, renewal of mind) as a breastplate, and your feet shod in readiness for the gospel of peace (the Word), Hold faith (Believing the unseen) as a shield to quench all the falming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation (the blood of Christ) and the sword of the Spirit (the Word of God). Stay in prayer through the Spirit. Then and only then is one prepared to protect the light from within. Be vigillent in all the ways of the Lord, stand firm, and rest assured He is always with you. Many blessings. Beth
