A Passing Shadow

1 Chronicles 29:15

…Our days on earth are like a passing shadow, gone so soon without a trace.

Have you ever had thoughts like it seems like yesterday that I was 10…sweet 16…21…so on? Do you remember the adults in your young life telling you - don't wish your life away it goes quick enough on its own?

Today reading about David praying before the assembly and sharing praise and worship I was hit by the fact that even David who lived a life of a shepherd, a warrior, a husband, a father, a king felt life went by really fast. David had thoughts of his life being gone without a trace. If the man that was after God's own heart (Acts 13) felt life was like a passing shadow, it's pretty normal to have thoughts like these.

What did David do to help with these feelings? He rejoiced, He gave praise, He worshiped the LORD and he bowed low and knelt before the LORD. David knew the time was near, but he worshiped.

How are you going to spend your days? Will they be gone without a trace? David taught all of us how we should spend our days, which choice will we make?

Praising God,

Debbie

Walking with the anticipation each day that whomever I meet may need a kind smile, gentle encouragement, or simply to be acknowledged gives a special meaning to each day. Blessing those I encounter and knowing that we are all connected by Gods grace. And when a day carries an added load for me I stop and try to remember that I have a Friend just beside me who is willing and ready to lighten my load as soon as I release it to Him and for me this is what makes the sky look bluer, the air is crisper and clearer, and suddenly all seems right in the world. Have a wonderful day. Beth

Debbie, there were a couple of things that got my attention from today's reading.

One was in 1 Chronicles 29:2, David says that he has gathered as much as he could for building the the Temple of MY God. Then in verse 3, he says, because of my devotion to the Temple of MY God.... His reference to the Temple of my God is what got my attention. I think that is the first time David has said that, "the Temple of MY God." It was very personal to him.

The other thing that spoke to me was in 1 Chronicles 29:16. David says, "O Lord our God, even this material we have gathered to build a Temple to honor your holy name comes from you! It all belongs to you!" How true is that? A great reminder that: it all belongs to God.
