Who’s your army?

Habakkuk 3:19 ~

The Sovereign Lord is my strength! He makes me surefooted as a deer able to tread upon the heights.

I decided to really look deep into this verse and see what some of the words meant in Hebrew and hopefully make this even more special to a couple of friends that treasure this verse. In doing so, I found it more meaningful to me as well!

I looked at the word strength! The Hebrew translated word means army, force, powerful. Don't you love it? The LORD is MY ARMY. WE each have our own army, what more could we need? I love it!

Did you know that a surefooted deer is the owner of being really good on her feet? Well, a female deer can place her back feet exactly where her front feet just were or not more than an inch from it…Also, a deer never looks down, she holds her head up high and still never stumbles or falls! I'm thinking how much cooler can this one verse become for us? WE are able to walk in high places because the Lord and His army go along with us to face our battles. It doesn't mean that we will win it, but we have an army of strength to get through it to the other side. We just aren't sure what the other side might be or where these heights might be…we are never alone.

I think another thing God is telling us that He is in our corner and that with our heads held high, He will take us to new places that we could never ever go without HIM! I don't know about you, but with an army with me I feel like I can do anything or face anything!

Traveling to new heights,

Debbie, what a pleasure to see that Scripture this morning. Thank you so much for the research that you did on it and taking the time to share it with the rest of us. I have contemplated how God was called "the Lord of Heaven's Armies" in the Old Testament and the definition of strength you gave us makes alot sense to me.

I love the details of how the deer moves so precisely. The Lord is with us as we go through "things" of life. We wonder how we can endure them. But day by day, we do. We watched our loved one make her journey to the other side with her head held high like that sure-footed deer. The Sovereign Lord was her strength(her army). She was not alone and that gives me such comfort. Praying that I remember that the Sovereign Lord is my strength!
