Our eager learner.  Always ready to learn something new

Our okay I'll get to it learner...

I already know everything I need to know learner...see even proof in the closed reading for the day!

Seriously, I've been reading Amy Voskamp's "One Thousand Gifts" and loving it!  It's been out awhile and I've had it awhile, but wasn't time to read it until this week.  I always have them ready and wait for the prompting to pick them up for my lesson that I know awaits me.  Truthfully, it's something I'm learning to wait until it's the right time ~ God's timing!

It's time to learn and grow.  It's a great read so far and honestly I've gotten to a portion that I am really pondering and wanted to share with you.

I came to the scripture Philippians 4: 11-12 and some of her thoughts that have really got my attention.  Now I've read this many times (scripture) and I've heard sermons on it, but I know the Lord is teaching me something new with this book.

"I have learned how to be content with whatever I have.  I  know how to live on almost nothing or with everything.  I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is on a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little."  Amy shared the word "eucharisteo"  which means thanks or thanksgiving.  She went on to share that Paul used the word twice in this short passage and like Amy it caught my attention this time.  WE have to learn how to live our life fully with thanks!  We have to learn how to be content.  It doesn't just happen ~ we must learn it.  Perhaps if you are like me it might take a little time or maybe you are a quick learner like Sadie.  The learning process may be easy or it might be difficult, but we need to be filled with thanks that we are learning!

What do you want to learn?

I am learning how to be in the moment and not worry about tomorrow.  I have so enjoyed my summer because I have been learning to enjoy each moment.  Yes, it all started with a phone call from the doctor that I had to come back for a breast biopsy.  Phone calls that happen to other people, but never you.  These moments have a tendency to wake you up!  I realized that time is so very precious and that I wanted to enjoy each moment and I am making an effort to enjoy my moments.  I've set up a seating area on my patio that I've sat outside even in 100 degree weather and still enjoyed it!  People use to do this all the time and you know what you still can!!!!  Honestly, I've treasured the times watching the hummingbirds, the dogs, the planes, the sun, the moon, the get the picture.  I had to learn to do this because well I'm a busy my own mind!

I've learned to take the time to give thanks for the small blessings and that brings me to Amy's book.  I've had it, but it wasn't God's timing yet to read it.  Well, it is powerful and definitely fits where God is teaching me right now. I am learning as well. The blessings that surround us all the time and how we need to give thanks!  I stand in the pool and thank God for the cool water, the hummingbirds that have entertained me all summer, and then the rain this morning.  May I just tell you that it has been awesome to realize how God is so in this special time with me. I feel closer to God than ever before and it's because of the realization of "being thankful" for the good and the bad!

I was also blessed with good news from the biopsy report, but also with that terrible moment that I got that call and went through the procedure.  It woke me up to continue to learn and grow, but also to be content right where I am.  Enjoy your moments ~ each and every one of them are special!

Are you learning?

Sweet blessings,

Great share this morning! Time means NOTHING to our GOD, so why do we have to FILL UP our days with STUFF. You are so right, BE CONTENT wherever we are! THanks!
