Broken Hearted

Genesis 6: 6-7

6 So the Lord was sorry he had ever made them and put them on the earth. It broke his heart. 7 And the Lord said, "I will wipe this human race I have created from the face of the earth. Yes, and I will destroy every living thing—all the people, the large animals, the small animals that scurry along the ground, and even the birds of the sky. I am sorry I ever made them."

We broke the Lord's heart. Imagine this was back at Noah's time. The first part of the bible and we still haven't gotten things together have we?

When I looked up original words it said the Lord grieved what he had fashioned that His heart was in pain and He wanted to blot humans out. The actual translated word was repented he made man. Just like our sins must be repented and God never remembers them, if we truly repent. He wanted to repent of making man. Do you realize that He wanted to erase, blot us out...original words are very powerful in this particular scripture..."I will wipe off man from the earth,' as dirt or filth is wiped off from a place which should be clean.

Think a moment about how compassionate God is and was…think of how bad the sins must have been…because just yesterday we read how he looked over it and saw that it was very good.

Earlier in Genesis we are told that Sin is crouching at the door, eager to control you.

Well, we are also told that we must subdue it and master it. We fight this battle our whole life, don't we? We never get past that sin crouching at the door, do we? God's amazing grace and our repentance are our saving grace when we finally meet God face to face.

One thing that just jumped at me throughout this reading is that we must honestly look at ourselves. God gives us our chance, but with sin crouching waiting so eager to control us. We must keep our eyes focused on God, so that when we fail we are able to realize our wrong and truly be sorry. If we focus on the sin and we become harden to it and we allow it to gain control and before we know it because of sin our eyes we can't see what is good…

Things haven't changed in a lot of ways since Noah have they? Not on our human parts, but they have changed because we have Jesus…absolutely nothing to do with us…

Amazed,

Debbie

Debbie, that verse jumped out at me also this morning. Not sure I can quite fathom that thought until I think of God as my Father and how a child can break a parent's heart. Mankind had so broken His heart that He wanted to wipe us from the face of the earth. Wow! And He did just that except for a select few.

For me, I think that I am so absorbed with how I feel that I don't stop to consider my Father's feelings. How often do I break His heart and I don't even consider it? What does He think of us now? Thankfully Jesus is interceding on our behalf.

Me, three. That one sentence spoke to me also. "It broke His heart." That breaks my heart....

Looking on the positive side of things, thank God for Noah!!:)
