Taste and see!

Job 23: 12

But have treasured his words more than daily food.

It is true! Finally, at almost fifty I can say that I treasure God's word and truly mean it. I was 49 when I finally read the bible from cover to cover and it changed me. Bible studies, favorite stories, pastors would pick certain portions, college courses on Old and New Testament, but oh I don't need to read every detail…oh how wrong I was!

I treasure how I pick it up in the morning and I don't know what God will say, but I know He will speak. It is our special time together ~ just like sharing lunch with that friend that you count on to listen and speak words of truth to you. I treasure my morning time with My Friend, My Savior, My Lord, My Comforter, My Friend…did you get those words. Yes, He is my friend.

This morning He spoke so clearly to me telling me Debbie I know where you are going, you will be tested so get ready, but you will come out pure as gold on the other side. Debbie you will finally be refined and shiny like gold! Those times of testing are so hard. You feel so alone. You feel so vulnerable for attack. You feel like why should I do this Lord? The answer because I ask you to…nothing more needs to be said! Our choice for each of us to make ~ His plans or mine?

My morning time is so special with My Friend. I do feel His Mighty presence with me and I am reminded just how much He loves me! Who doesn't need to be reminded that we are loved?

So pick up His word and treasure His words more than your chocolate…Truly it is way better than our favorite dessert and we all know how good that favorite dessert is to us!! Nothing compares to the sweet love of Jesus!

Savoring every Word,

Debbie

Debbie, I agree that His Word is better than dessert. Even better than red velvet cake!

I loved that word "treasure" today. It was also in Job 22:24-26, "If you give up your lust for money and throw your precious gold into the river, the Almighty himself will be your TREASURE. He will be your precious silver! Then you will take delight in the Almighty and look up to God."

Delighting in the Almighty is something that I would like to work on for 2010. Looking forward to reading His Word each morning is one way but I need to find more ways to delight in Him.
