Chasing the Wind!

Are you chasing the wind?

Usually I would answer no that would take to much exercise! I might walk after the wind..not the same is it? Anyway,

Chasing the wind, Solomon's take is to engage in anything, at anytime, at any cost that becomes meaningless at the end. Solomon thinks this is chasing the wind. Are you a wind chaser?

Do you find yourself spending time on things that in the end become meaningless?
Do you use your gifts and talents for God in the end they become meaningless?

Let's talk about the wind for a moment. Do you know when the wind will blow? Do you know from which direction it will come? Are you able to run and catch the wind in your own two hands? Do you see a few issues with the wind?

In the end the same thing happens to all of us doesn't it? It doesn't matter what we have done here on earth we all arrive the same way and we all go out of this world the same way, but does it matter while you are here? What will be remembered about you? Is anything worth remembering about you?

Yes, it does matter in my opinion. I know everybody's got an opinion, but I believe that the way we live our journey matters. Oh, all the stuff doesn't matter...we can have one of everything and nobody will remember that or care...What people will remember is the laughter, the hand, the shoulder or the genuine care that you show another human being. It is about our contentment with life and what goes on around us.

Remember Paul, he was sitting in prison when he wrote Philippians 4:11 I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. Doesn't it sound a little bit like Ecclesiastes 4:22 So I saw that there is nothing better for people than to be happy in work. That is why we are here! No one will bring us back from death to enjoy life after we die. We need to use our time wisely.

We don't need to worry about the past or the future; God fills our heart with true joy and He is in control. Think back about people ~ Who built the biggest building? Who ran the fastest mile? You may not remember these things, I don't...but I do remember Jesus didn't own any possessions, he didn't build a building, he didn't hang with the most important people, but He saved me and I remember all about Him!

Are you content today?

Content,

I agree with you, Debbie, that our journey called life has a purpose. How sad that it would all be meaningless.

We talked the other day about how we believe that God has placed this "hole" in us just for Himself and we try to fill it with all sorts of "stuff" except Him. And that "stuff" can never satisfy us or fill that "hole." Well, Ecclesiates 3:11 spoke to me of that matter today. It says, "Yet God made everything beautiful for its own time. HE HAS PLANTED ETERNITY IN THE HUMAN HEART, but even so people cannot see the whole scope of God's work from beginnng to end."

We yearn to be with Him. We yearn for heaven in our hearts that we may spend eternity with Him. I pray that I would bring Him glory during this journey of life until what my heart yearns for is fulfilled in eternity.
