Our words!

Did you know that a form of fool (s) foolish, is mentioned 84 times in Proverbs? When it is used it always defines the negative attributes of a person which can be changed by the individual. When you think about fool or foolish does our mouths and the things that come out of them come to mind?

Proverbs 10 is the focus for me today...Look at verse 12 -- Hatred stirs up quarrels, but love makes up for all offenses. Think about it like this..if somebody likes you - you can't do much to make them not like you. If somebody doesn't like you there isn't much that you can do to make it right. Love makes a big difference.

Wise words are mentioned. Too muck talk leads to sin. Be sensible and keep your mouth shut. Wow, there is the mouth again. Probably making us look foolish when we talk too much. It goes on in verse. 20 to say that words of the godly encourage many, but fools are destroyed by lack of common sense.

Verse 27 -- Fear of the Lord lengthens one's life, but the years of the wicked are cut short. Remember Exodus 20:12 12 "Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you. Similar thought, isn't it? It must be important!!!!

The proverbs today taught me about our conversations. We don't have to listen to a person very long before we know whether we hold them with a certain amount of respect, right? Remember, when we open our mouths to speak to encourage, be wise, be thoughtful, be helpful and most of all don't be negative where someone might call you foolish.

Have a fabulous Friday!

Blessings,

I am thinking about Proverbs 10:19 that you shared, too much talk leads to sin.... Too much talk is probably what has caused the most trouble in my life. Recently I tried to talk a situation through and I think it just caused more hurt at the time. Harsh words and thoughts came out that you can't take back. I am going to try to live the rest verse 19, Be sensible and keep your mouth shut. There is a saying, think before you speak. I bet it came from Proverbs.
